Students at Fremont Hills benefit from not only a fabulous facility, but the chance to experience the knowledge of four trainers. Fremont Hills offers a Show Program for students who own their own horses and are passionate about competition, as well as a Rider Development Program, for equestrians of all ages, whether just getting involved in the sport or climbing back in the saddle after a long hiatus. Regardless of the route riders choose, Fremont Hills provides a diverse riding education and a library of experience to help clients attain their equestrian goals.
Wendy Carter - Head Trainer
Wendy grew up in Beverly Hills and began riding at age six. She took lessons at Foxfield Riding Academy where she credits Nancy Turrill and Joanne Postel for teaching her about the love of horses and the passion of riding, not just about winning ribbons. Wendy was lucky enough to ride with a variety of trainers throughout her Junior and Amateur career, including Mike and Lolly Edrick, Bennett Kurtze, Jimmy Williams, Susie Hutchinson and Lucy Stewart, who collectively brought her success in the show ring as well as taught her how to be successful as a professional. Wendy's biggest influences as a rider and up-and-coming professional were Leslie Steele, Carleton Brooks and Scott Wilson.
Missy Froley - Trainer, Rider
Missy also started riding at the age of six with Jerry Daniels, and then spent many years riding with Michael Croopnick before she found her way to Caroline Bonham who helped her excel in equitation divisions. After graduating from the junior ranks, Missy worked for Caroline until she met Wendy at Coto De Caza Training Center. Today her talents are equally effective as a hunter and jumper rider at all levels and as a coach to students in any of the hunter/jumper divisions. Missy does a majority of the show ring campaigning for Fremont Hills, jumping off of a hunter and onto a jumper at the back gate with the ease and expertise of a true horseman. Some of Missy’s achievements include earning Champion honors in the 2008 HITS Thermal Regular Working Hunter division with Crown Affair as well as placing second in the 2007 Menlo Grand Prix aboard Bay Rose’s Oberon 48.
Wendy & Missy - Training Partners, Bay Rose
Wendy and Missy have spent close to a decade working in partnership as trainers for the privately held farm, Bay Rose, owned by Claudia Kelley’s family. Together they developed and manage the entire operation. Wendy’s overall equestrian expertise mixed with Missy’s riding skills, helped Claudia go from a rank beginner to an accomplished and confident rider.
Currie Geffken - Assistant Trainer
Currie started riding at the age of six. She showed pony hunters all over the east coast, including Devon and Indoors. She then went on to show in the Junior Jumper division with Kevin Babington and finished out her junior career and into her Amateur years with Patty Stovel.
Currie started her professional career at Woodrun Farm working for the Gorman family. From there she went to work for Alex Jayne and Our Day Farm, where Currie gained valuable experience showing abroad.
